A reconfiguration proposal was developed in 2014/15 for Frimley Park Hospital, in Camberley, Surrey, to acquire Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital (HWP), Slough by means of a financial merger. The proposal was seen as an opportunity to help secure the sustainability of both hospitals and to improve the quality at HWP and was strongly supported by the Department of Health, Monitor and the local Clinical Commissioning
Groups (CCGs).
