Kent, Surrey & Sussex Clinical Senate

Independent, clinical and strategic advice for health systems in the south east

Kent Surrey and Sussex Clinical Senate (KSS) was established on the 1st April 2013. The KSS Clinical Senate now provides support to the following STP/ICS’s as part of the wider South East Region Clinical Senates:

  • Kent and Medway STP
  • Sussex STP
  • Surrey Heartlands ICS

Clinical Senate Council

The Council is currently chaired by Dr Jane Barrett as interim chair whilst the post is recruited to following the retirement of Dr Lawrence Goldberg. The Council comprises appointed clinical and Patient and Public Engagement members and of standing (ex officio) members.

Appointed members are selected via a formal interview process following a process of nomination or individual approach and will maintain their role for two or three years.

Published advice and recommendations

The KSS review reports and recommendations will become available in this section as completed and published. Reviews and recommendations 2013-2020 are available here.

Patient and Public Engagement

We promise that the work of the South East Clinical Senates will be informed directly and indirectly by people who have experience of National Health Services. Our job is to say what good looks like, for our population – now and for future generations, and if we are going to do this, then we need to pay attention to the perspectives, skills and experience of patients, carers and the public, alongside those of clinicians and others, and work together in making decisions for the future and in communicating those decisions.
