The proposal is for the centralisation of in-patient neonatal and maternity services from two hospital sites into a single unit creating an alongside midwifery-led unit as part of the proposals. The options that the CCG are planning to consult the public on are around the possible configurations of outpatient services across the 2 sites. The Senate was asked to review the proposed reconfiguration and advise on whether the clinical evidence base supports the reconfiguration and whether this will provide a safe and sustainable service.
