Does the Thames Valley have sufficient maternity capacity for the next 10 years

Concern was expressed that hospital maternity services were under increasing pressure and some were limited by the virtual cap of 6,000 births. The Senate linked with the Children’s and Maternity SCN to produce a capacity report which identified that current provision would be insufficient. The Senate concluded the work with a clinical forum to facilitate the system to reach joint agreement on the way forward and to sign up to the Senate recommendations.
