The Senate was asked to provide an independent clinical evaluation on the impact of changes in skill mix of ambulance crews covering the rural Durham Dales answering the question ‘For people in the Durham Dales area, is there any difference in terms of patient care and outcome between an ambulance service staffed by a paramedic with an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA), and one staffed by two paramedics?’
