Following the Kirkup Report and RCOG Report regarding maternity services delivered by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust, the provider and commissioner developed a preferred option for future services. The GMLSC Clinical Senate reviewed the proposal. It examined the clinical assumptions used regarding the feasibility and sustainability of maternity services across the Morecambe Bay area for the short [up to 3 years] and medium [up to 7 years] term and advised on potential unintended consequences/interdependencies.
