n September 2017, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust sought independent clinical advice and support from the Northern England Clinical Senate as part of the development of the Care For You programme. Over the course of a week in December 2017, a range of members from the Northern England Senate met clinicians and other health staff from the trust and local CCGs on site to look at service issues in acute and emergency medicine, care of the frail elderly, surgery, maternity and paediatric services. This report describes the issues and challenges presented by the trust during this week and the advice from the senate on how they could be addressed in the short, medium and longer term. This report was presented to the Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust Board on 4th July 2018 and the Northern England Clinical Senate continues to offer support to the trust as it looks to work with its partners to develop more detailed plans for the future.
