The Northern England Clinical Senate was asked to undertake a formal clinical review of the proposals for Urgent and Emergency Paediatrics services across South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital as part of the Path To Excellence programme (Phase 1). This review was used to inform CCG decision-making and was submitted as evidence to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel following JHOSC referral to Secretary of State. The report will also be submitted as evidence into the Judicial Review proceedings on the CCG decision-making process in December 2018. The CCGs successfully defended their decisions in both the SoS referral and in Judicial Review.
