Review of Hepato-pancreatic-biliary services across the West Midlands –

There are three specialist HPB resection centres within the West Midlands serving a population of 5.2 million. The Improving Outcomes Guidance in Upper Gastrointestinal CancersÂ’ (IOG) state that each centre should aim for a population of 2-4 million meaning that some of the 3 centres were not compliant and the current service provision was unsustainable. The Senate was requested to oversee a review of current HPB services across the HBP Service Reconfiguration and to provide an options appraisal and recommendations.
