Men’s Health draft discussion paper: November 2019

Do men and women behave in ways that predispose them to particular health conditions? Do men access fewer public services? These are the topics under consideration in a draft discussion paper that’s been published by Wessex Clinical Senate and Networks.

The facts that are indisputable are that men are THREE TIMES more likely to die prematurely from some common illnesses and conditions than women, depending on their lifestyle, personal circumstances, ethnicity, income and willingness to seek help.

This draft discussion report is a senate and clinical networks inspired initiative which has been developed following engagement with Hampshire and Isle of Wight STP (HIOW STP) Clinical Executive Group and Dorset ICS. We are currently consulting stakeholders identified by HIOW STP and Dorset ICS. This consultation is likely to last until December 2019. Our aspiration is that the final report will be fully adopted in 2020 by HIOW STP and Dorset ICS through their strategic delivery plans and priority setting processes.
